Role

General Contractor

ICI completed the construction of this 140,000 square foot new Wal-Mart Supercenter and massive 31 acre site in September 2010. In addition to the typical retail store requirements, the scope of work also included reclaiming a site contaminated by a concrete products manufacturing company.

The manufacturer produced precast concrete and abandoned much of its discards on site. ICI’s pre-construction testing revealed buried concrete structures throughout the site.

To solve the issue, ICI set up a temporary concrete crushing plant to turn the abandoned structures and other excavated materials into suitable landfill. Over 19,221 cubic yards of suitable fill material was crushed and reused on site.

ICI also recycled 32.84 tons of wood and 10.68 tons of metal on the project. The new Wal-Mart Store incorporates green areas and a retention pond. The scope of work also includes constructing two pad sites for future development. Approximately 1.5 miles of highway development were also included in the project scope.
