In continuation of a long relationship with Frankfort School District, ICI constructed an 18,340 SF single-story addition to Chelsea Intermediate School. ICI completed work at Chelsea and Grand Prairie schools simultaneously, including the completion of over $3 Million in site work within 9 weeks.

The addition, located on the east side of the school, will provide eight new classrooms, a multi-purpose room, restrooms and a divisible special education area.

Due to the volume of site work and condensed schedule, ICI began work for the storm detention while school was still in session. Making safety a top priority, ICI fenced off construction areas and created a safe walkway from the gym
to the outdoor track. Additionally, the team accommodated the school’s flow of activities; making sure that no trucks were entering or leaving the property in- between class periods or when students or staff were arriving at or leaving the building.

Site work added additional parking for 128 cars, an upgrade of detention and 31 bus staging areas on the west and north sides of the school. ICI also completed all new storm and sanitary structures, new water main, all new underground utilities, including gas, electric and phone services; and placement of curb and gutter. Especially significant in this project is new and extensive underground plumbing which will tie into the existing plumbing.
